It's hard to believe that spring is just around the corner. Empire Services completed a variety of demolition, site, and civil projects. Each one required a strategic solution to achieve successful results. Let’s take a look at some project highlights from the past few months.
An engineering review recently determined that some of the supporting steel beams, columns, and crane rails could not be reused. Our team skillfully torch cut them into manageable pieces for removal and transport.
After a few small snowstorms in January, we finally got a substantial amount of snow during the February 13th snow storm. The snow fall totals in Berks County ranged from 5 to 10 inches. The Empire Services crew along with DVC (an Empire Group affiliate) were hard at work providing exceptional snow removal at various parking lots all over Berks County.
We recently demolished a steel bridge in Allentown, PA to make way for a new concrete bridge. The bridge deck was removed using an acetylene torch setup. As each piece was cut away, a crane carefully hoisted it from its perch to the designated disassembly area. Once separated from the bridge, the trusses were deconstructed into manageable pieces, ready for transport.
We undertook the task of dismantling a local truck body manufacturer's current automated system. This automated system, serving as the backbone of their manufacturing process, needed to operate seamlessly every day. To carry out the dismantling, the Empire Services crew utilized an array of dismantling tools and machinery, including aerial lifts and a variety of forklifts. The acetylene torch was the primary tool, expertly used to slice the steel structures into manageable segments. The precision of this operation was amplified by the challenges of the confined space and the imperative to maneuver around stationary production equipment. The project was divided into four phases, with the crucial stipulation that the system could only be removed during facility shutdowns to avoid disruptions to daily operations. The entire project is expected to be completed this fall.
At Empire Services, we are thankful for the opportunity to work on these and all other projects, enabling us to help our customers achieve their goals. We look forward to the projects we will be working on in the spring!
